Planet Dailies Coffee Shop Goes High Tech with Panasonic retailTV.

Digital Signage Solution Creates 24-hour Entertainment.

Secaucus, NJ (December 10, 2007) – Panasonic Systems Integration Group, a division of Panasonic System Solutions Company and a leader in digital signage solutions and systems integration, has helped the Planet Dailies Coffee Shop in Las Vegas set a new standard for techno-chic in a city that thrives on one-upmanship. Located in the new Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Las Vegas’ famed Strip, the Planet Dailies Coffee Shop surrounds visitors with a sea of images from nearly 50 Panasonic digital displays strategically placed throughout the venue.

The Panasonic displays, which include both high definition LCDs and plasmas, are all part of the digital signage system from Panasonic Systems Integration that has helped to create a restaurant experience described by Robert Earl, Owner of Planet Hollywood, Inc. as the “ultimate coffee shop.”

“Planet Dailies' carefully crafted atmosphere was created by the renowned designer Thomas Shoner and features overlapping wall panels that look as if they’re floating,” said Mr. Earl. “The monitors are strategically placed so diners can catch breaking news, entertainment reports or sporting events from anywhere in the restaurant. Moreover, the system allows us to create and deliver our own messaging and as we learn more about our customers we can more effectively target the content toward their interests.”

Planet Dailies is the latest addition to the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino family, offering contemporary American food around the clock. It is just one of the numerous eating establishments in the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, which celebrated its grand opening November 16-17. Formerly the Aladdin, the casino was rebranded last Spring with the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino name after undergoing a billion dollar renovation.

According to Mr. Earl, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is a strong competitor to other high energy Las Vegas properties and the Planet Dailies Coffee Shop adds an edgy and contemporary feel to the Casino. “Panasonic worked with me, the designer and the general contractor to create a look for the displays that would match the world class architectural design of the restaurant.”

The various displays throughout the Coffee Shop, which range in size from 32” to 60”, are controlled and programmed by restaurant management using Panasonic’s proprietary retailTV software, NMStage, a powerful scheduling and content distribution system. With NMStage, content can be scheduled and managed down to the second on any combination of displays, even dividing the display into multiple segments. Programming for the Coffee Shop includes sports, news, entertainment, daily specials from the menu on a touch screen kiosk, packaged media and casino entertainment.   The signage is also augmented with a high quality three-zone audio system which allows different programming to be played in various sections of the Coffee Shop.

The retailTV™ system at Planet Dailies also includes a server and six media players and is connected to the Internet to allow retrieval of live information and electronic content delivery. The Internet connectivity also allows for remote monitoring and management of the system. Within the Coffee Shop, NMStage operates on a secure network environment with dedicated bandwidth to help ensure quality images and viewing.

Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino remained open for business throughout the refurbishing of the property. Installation of the retailTV system was completed during the construction and Mr. Earl credits the Panasonic Systems Integration design and installation team with keeping problems to a minimum.

“This is one of the only 24-hour food operations in the Casino and it is vital to the Hotel operation, so it was imperative that the construction was completed as soon as possible,” he said. “Panasonic maintained excellent communication throughout the construction and design phase to assist with this deadline.”

Mr. Earl went on to praise the Panasonic support system, citing the occasions when calls had to be made. “A great support system. Trust us when we say that they have been called at all hours.” Mr. Earl also had high praise for the Panasonic equipment. “The support has been integral but the quality of the product has been key,” he said.

Panasonic Systems Integration provided a unique combination of design and consultation, content creation, network implementation and management service capabilities for the Planet Dailies Coffee Shop project. Mr. Earl commented that on an overall basis, Panasonic has been an essential partner in the rebranding of the Casino and Resort. “Their technology and product, accompanied with their knowledge and experience, have been invaluable,” he said.
