When Keith Kelsen, Chairman and CEO of MediaTile Company USA was visiting a music store in November of 2002 searching for a new top ten CD on the music charts he said “It was an inspirational moment of truth - I picked up the CD and said to myself, I should be able to hear and see the content in my hand.” With that MediaTile was born and on January 16th, 2005 The MediaTile Company unveiled the world’s first Digital-Sign-In-A-Box™ offering at the National Retail Federation in New York City, one of the world’s largest Retail shows.

MediaTile’s Digital-Sign-In-A-Box (see website www.digitalsigninabox.com) delivers the first turnkey digital signage network solution right out of the box. Digital-Sign-In-A-Box will bring the power and influence of networked digital signage to far more businesses, enabling them to own and operate their very own advertising, promotional or educational broadcast networks.

If you are looking for simple, affordable Digital Signage, Digital Sign-In-A-Box ‘i-Players’ (with built-in cellular broadband network access for instant connectivity) offers a real life solution because it allows the shelf base units to change with the planogram especially on End Caps, as those change brand to brand in any given sales cycle quarter. Digital-Sign-In-A-Box’s real strength is the power of being able to get closer to the product and relieves all the stresses and technology burden of owning and operating a network based on traditional Wi-Fi, Satellite and terrestrial networking. No IT department needed.

But what is a Planogram?

A planogram is a schematic drawing of fixtures that illustrate product placement, shelf placement and store layout. Keith Kelsen also states “One of the reasons we are focused on Cellular is because to get to the shelf you can not have infrastructure, especially when planograms are changing every 3 months!”

Digital-Sign-In-A-Box is the ultimate dream solution for any distributor, reseller,  content provider and end-user because it is shipped via UPS 1,2 or 3 day ground meaning no special expensive freight carriers are needed and everything you need is in one box to start your own digital signage network.

What comes in Digital-Sign-In-A-Box?

The liquid crystal displays (LCD’s) have a ‘Here I am baby’ size range to include: 10” 17” 32” 42” 47” and the only thing it requires is power. Of course the biggest question on your customers mind will be warranty and with this solution you will not need to worry as there is a one year parts and labor warranty on the 10 inch and 17 inch units. On the larger units there is a 2 year warranty. Plus, there is an opportunity to purchase and extended ‘Worry Free Guarantee’. Keith Kelsen also states “We have 15,000 people on the ground to replace the units within 48 hours under this service.”

In the box you get screen, power cord and instructions. All we can say is WOW! When the first unit is shipped, they provision the first Broadcast Portal for the user.  MediaTile then will provision new units on the network as purchased at no charge. When deploying this solution they first check addresses for carrier coverage and primarily ship EVDO Verizon serviced units. The only visible cable is the power cable and there is an option to run it off DSL. To use that option all you need to do is just plug into an Ethernet connection.

Their Broadcast Portal is the simplest, most intuitive interface available with onscreen help right at the user’s fingertips but tech is available if needed and is free for the first three calls. The web based BroadCast Portal is the operator’s window for loading content, managing the signs and scheduling playback. Also, in the event of a software upgrade MediaTile will automatically upgrade all units that are up and running with new software at no charge.

As far as content, MediaTile can set your Digital Signage soul on fire as they provide a content starter kit which is a service providing over 28 programs to choose a vertical category for them to begin with. These are video clips available on their web site.

The 17” unit model has been running in Fry’s Electronics nationally for over a year and in many other locations with a component box, which attaches to any size LCD or Plasma screen. The 32” unit is planned to deploy at a major retailer in March. You cannot go wrong with this solution because MediaTile’s partner Chi Lin is now the number one in the world manufacturing LCD panels (surpassing Samsung last quarter) with their high quality hardware and MediaTile is the world’s first Cellular Digital Signage provider, deploying since 2003. What's even cooler is MediaTile Company has offices in Canada, Australia and Taiwan.

MediaTile has a unique opportunity for everyone in the Digital Signage Industry because they have Channel Programs available for VARs, Resellers and the new generation of Narrowcasters. MediaTile’s Digital-Sign-In-A-Box will be available beginning in March, 2006. MediaTile has the “future in your hands-- oh yeah baby… Signed, Sealed, Delivered -It’s Yours!"

Good luck and Virtual Success!
