Alexander Wiethoff of Milan Italy has written a great article on "How To Get Your Digital Signage Network right the first time" this down to earth and educational article was written as an idea and sketchbook for his thesis project.

7. Don’t rely on SneakerNet. Humans are human. Take mistakes out of the equation. Use the network to remotely update all of your systems. Don’t just send around DVDs because you can’t get up enough courage to talk to the geeks in the IT department. Use the network.

As entertaining as #7 is this is a huge point! 

The point is what is the sense of having a network if you pass around content and do not remotely update from a secure location. Millions of dollars could be wasted in mistakes and delay critical content for retail selling seasons.
